Master degree in countering extremism and terrrorism

 

1.     The Aims of The program.

A.    Graduate the qualified researchers methodologically and scientifically in the extremism and terrorism specialization who are able in the same time to provide strategic solutions for the current updates in this field.

B.    provide the public and special national establishments with the specialized competencies in the filed of countering the extremist thought and terrorism to activate their thought role totally in his work field.

C.    provide the public and special national establishments with specialized people in preparing the national strategies to counter the phenomenon of extremism and terrorism .

D.    Co-operate and co-ordinate and exchange of academic experiences with the universities and study centers regarding countering the phenomenon of extremism and terrorism at both the regional and international levels.

E.     provide adopted and documented studies in the field of the reasons behind the phenomenon of the extremism and terrorism and the means of precautions and treatment and evaluate the extemt of its danger and the effect of it

2.     The importance of the program and the need of the society to it.

*      A group of justifications and reasons participated in finding this specialization, the following are the most promiant:

A.    The spread of extremism and terrorism thought and becom forming the main threat for the international community.

B.    The Varity of the negative effects of the terrorist operations in Jordan and the international community which effected the economical, tourism and security sectors.

C.    The official Authorities need to researchers and specialized persons sustained by science and acknowledge in the issues of extremism and terrorism.

D.    Depending on methodological and scientenific methods and basis able to identify the elements of the problem and to find the required solutions for it.

E.     The necessity of fining qualified experiences in the national establishments which are able to find national strategies that participate in countering extremism and terrorism.   

F.     Prepare scientific thesis that addresses types and from and tools and the condition of the extremism and terrorism phenomenon, then to provide solutions and strategic visions to treat it.

G.    Conduct seminars and lectures to all sectors of community and to all researchers, learners and those interested at the national level in the field of extremism and terrorism.

H.    The necessity to keep the true religion position and its instructions away from suspicions of ignorant people through identifying the dimentions of the real extremism phenomenon and link it with the causing factors to defeat the ideas and opinions that try to affect the religious belief.

        - Statistics:                              

1.     Provide approximate data in the number of the students expected to be accepted in the program (20 students).

2.     The entities that can benefit from the program (All national establishments and Arabic and foreign states).

        - Studying requirements for the scientific grade

1.     The college will specify the number of the total required studying courses that are required to obtain the scientific grade (Master degree). 

2.     The total studying materials will be distributed on the compulsory and optional courses between the comprehensive and the thesis tracks.

3.     Any conditions the college see necessary such as language requirements or previous requirements specially for the program.

 

 

 

 

        - Study requirements:

1.     obtain the master degree (by studying courses/thesis track in (studies in countering extremism and terrrorism) which requires completing (36) credit – hours, distributed as the following:

        A.    Compulsory courses     (27) credit hours.

        B.    Optional courses            (9) credit hours

        C.    Success in the comprehensive exam

        - The proposal for the master degree studying plan.

                In the specialty studies for countering  extremism and terrorism:

        First: The program rules and conditions:

1.     This plan will be committed in the instructions of the general frame of the high studies program in the Jordanian studies.

2.     The specialization that can be accepted in the master degree:

        A.    Bachelor degree in any humanitarian or social specialization.

        B.    Bachelor degree in any branch of other science branches.

        Second: Special conditions: not existing.

        Third: The general includes a group of studying courses distributed between the comprehensive and thesis track as the following

1.     The comprehensive track : compulsory courses (27) credit hours, and the optional courses (9) credit hours, in addition to the comprehensive exam.

2.     The thesis track: compulsory courses (21) credit hours, the optional courses (9) credit hours and the thesis (6) credit hours.

 

 

 

 

        First: The comprehensive track: Includes compulsory and optional hours (36) hours.

       -      Course: Advanced research methodology.  

       -      Credit hours (3)

-      The description: This course aims at providing the student with the research and methodology basis to design researches and apply sample and methodological and strategic methods to direct the research in administration and the administrative sciences and specially in the field of public administration and business administration, as this focus at enabling the learner to obtain skills of achieving the perfect in the procedures (scientific) procedures goes along with the research and apply the concepts of the descriptive research and the link one, the causative, experimental and semi- experimental research, and evaluation of criticizing studies and researches, and describe the procedures and methods of gathering information's and date to be organized and the course will concentrate on training the student at choosing and identifying the research problem in the field of specialization.

Also develop the procedural and constructive definitions goes along with the research and select the suitable research design and develop suitable research plan methodologically and scientifically for the research subject.

Also, this course aims at help the student in designing the research project that aims at examining the strategies and the applied issues in addition to the commitment in the moral practices in the scientific research and achieve the criteria of quality.

-      Description: This course aims at developing the learners skills to know and observe the social behavior phenomenon of all community sectors during their activities and to instruct them in all human activity aspects regarding the desire of mutual living and accept others and exchange of dialogue in social issues that are essential to the community.

-      The Description: This course aims at being aware of the important ideologies that world witnessed in different historical periods, and the nature of their directions and effect at the international regime through its development periods, in addition of studying the most important recent thought doctrines and link it with its religious and historical context, and its effect on the recent period and how it affect the human communities in the context of discussing war and peace.

-      Description: This course aims at informing the learners with all the concepts of national security and its main basis including the human, geographic, and economic factors, and also discuss the challenges and threats that face the national security in its comprehensive concept.

       -      credit hours (3)

-      Description: This course includes the concept, the aims and characteristics of the national education, the most important concepts linked with it, then studying the national symbols (slogan, royal crown, anthem, Jordan flag, Jordanian constitution), study the political Jordanian system and the political support tools (the concept of political system, the political education, the political culture, political formation, political development) study the political and social phenomenon, the role of the national establishments in enhancing the national education, then study the role of Jordan in countering terrorism which involve the tools of the national education in countering the extremism and terrorism through the following aspects (education, the religcus values and morals, political awareness, pilitical formation, national media, economic and social development).

-      Description: This course aims at providing the student with knowledge (scientific knowledge ) to better understanding in studying the form and nature of the regime in Islam and its sources and periods of its development, the nature of international relations in Islam through the focus on the periods of the development of these relations and study the theory and international law in international relations and its development in Islam, relations and its development in Islam, then to be aware of the important of international law and relations in Islam and the basis of the international relations, and the nature of the international relations organization in peace and war in Islam and the development of the diplomatic representation in Islam.

-      Description: This study discuss the concept and the reality of terrorism and distinguish between it and other concepts (extremism and violence, study terrorism from political and legal aspect, then study the formation and development of terrorism through ages (ancient ages, Islamic age, middle ages modern ages reasons, aims and factors of terrorism, and study the forms and kinds of terrorism, then the concept of international terrorism, the role of the international organizations in countering the international terrorism.

-      Description: This course aims at studying the most prominent legal legislations that criminalize the special breach of terrorism and extremism at the local, regional and international level, through the local and international efforts and concentrate on studying the international law and the various legislations froms international agreements and traditions that criminalize the  terrorism actions and international and regional role in countering extremism and terrorism.

       -      course: Strategic planning to manage the terrorism crises.

       -      credit hours (3)

-      Description: This course aims at knowing the concept of the strategic planning, its elements, kinds, mechanism and the relation of the strategic planning with the command and the role of the strategic planning during the terrorist crisis and to be aware of the terrorism crisis and how to deal with it and the strategic planning role in managing the terrorism crisis. This course also addresses the definition of the terrorism crisis and the basic characteristics of the crisis and to distinguish between the crisis and concepts concerned and the reasons behind the emergence of terrorism crisis and the dimentions of the crisis and the stage of managing the crisis and dealing with it with regard to the steps and the administrative requirements and the requirements for the success of the managing the crisis strategically and the concept of the starting planning for the management of the crisis and how security can affect the terrorism crisis and the basis of the strategic planning to manager the terrorism crisis and its treatment .

-      Description: This course include studying and analysis of the most important issues that face the modern world at the regional and international level, whether it is political or economical or social issues and its effects at the international peace and security.

              This course aims at putting the student in a state of awareness in linking the international and regional variables with many recent issues, and present an image about the extent of Jordan being affected from these variables, and how Jordan obtain its stability and security and its attitude to wards these issues.

-      Description: This course aims at knowing the electronic terrorism through explain the social communication media and its usage in spreading the extremism phenomenon and terrorism and attract the youth attention to these sites to facilitate their Join and the methods to counter it within the national and international efforts.

       -      course : The legal precautions in countering extremism and terrorism.

       -      credit hours (3)

-      Description: This course aims at introducing the student to the concept of extremism and terrorism, its types, reasons and their danger and effect on the individual and the society, to know the history of extremism and terrorism and the Islamic sharia and law for them.

       Also aims at the precautions (legal precautions) to counter extremism and terrorism whether in precaution or treatment side, as the necessity to plant values and legitimate punishments and treat the reasons of extremism and promote the role of  the educational and legal role in countering both extremism and terrorism    .
